• Community Development

  • The Community Development Division of the Regional Chamber works to promote and expand the capacities of local civic groups and institutions to meet the needs of Lawrence County by cultivating partnerships, expanding access to resources, creating leadership development opportunities, and creating a shared vision for the community to strive towards that minimizes the duplication of efforts and services.

The Regional Chamber undertakes these activities by focusing on four key areas:

    1. Government Affairs
    • Organize an effective Government Affairs program that creates communication between key stakeholders that leads to a clear message expressing our county’s most pressing needs
      • Heads of Lawrence – facilitated meeting between private and public sectors meant to create additional understanding of these groups' unique needs, thus leading to improved public policy and a more competitive business climate
      • Lawrence County Day at the Capitol – single, limited legislative platform inclusive of partner concerns that accurately convey our needs to Commonwealth leadership in Harrisburg

    2. Move the Needle

    • Build civic and institutional capacity throughout Lawrence County necessary to create and execute an integrated, county-wide, and multi-organizational program of work that will "Move the Needle" and build a more desirable community for current and future generations
      • Leadership Lawrence County – both a class and an alumni association organized to promote and enhance skill sets needed by citizens and community leaders to enable more effective communication, collaboration, and coordination of activities, to overcome the common and unique challenges faced by Lawrence County
      • 10 Year Comprehensive Vision – in conjunction with our partners, a public visioning process from stakeholders and citizens to prioritize community actions. This vision is the basis for creating a community-wide master plan of action, meant to build up the community
